My Christmas mug countdown journey on Facebook and LinkedIn started this year on November 29, 2021. For 27 days I posted a different Christmas mug every day. I started the tradition of only drinking from a Christmas mug the day after Thanksgiving through Christmas day in 2006. A few people have asked me why I started this tradition and my general response has always been ‘why not!”. I love the Christmas season! I love the music. I love all of the decorations. I love the colors. And we can get it here in Indiana, I love snow on Christmas Eve. And I particularly love my Christmas mugs and the coffee that fills them each morning.
This year was the first year where I decided to create an actual social media posting campaign with my Christmas mugs. I am not quite sure where the idea to make a daily post came from, but I thought it would be a creative and fun way to show off my mugs. I currently have over 40 Christmas mugs, so I knew I had enough Christmas mugs to pull off a daily posting.
My next step was to create a hashtag for my Christmas mug campaign. If you are not familiar with what a hastag is, here is a simple explanation.
Definition of a Hashtag
- #coffee
- #gregschristmasmugcountdown
I posted exclusively to LinkedIn and Facebook. On Facebook, I posted to my personal newsfeed and I also posted to two Facebook Groups I am a member of https://www.facebook.com/groups/h7network and https://www.facebook.com/groups/Coffeerocks I wish I would have posted to Twitter and Instagram too, but maybe I will include those next year. Smile!
